Dr. Richard Bergman is an internationally known expert in obesity and diabetes research. He holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering from Case-Western Reserve University and the Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh. Bergman and colleagues introduced a unique model of canine obesity which has examined the inter-relationships between obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes.
Dr. Bergman has won numerous honors for his work, including the "Outstanding Diabetes Investigator (Lilly Award)" from the American Diabetes Association, and the "TOPS" award from the Obesity Society (NAASO).
