David M. Kendall, MD, is currently Medical Director and Chief of Clinical and Professional Services at the International Diabetes Center (IDC) in Minneapolis, MN. His role at IDC includes oversight over diabetes clinical programs at the diabetes center as well as the 900 provider Park Nicollet Clinics. In addition, Dr. Kendall serves as Medical Director for IDC professional programs both nationally and internationally. He holds an appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota and serves as an investigator in a number of government, foundation and industry sponsored trials. His research work again includes participation as and investigator for the NIH-sponsored ACCORD (Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes) trial and the landmark DCCT/EDIC study.
Dr. Kendall re-joined IDC in 2008 after serving as an Executive Director of Medical Affairs at Amylin Pharmaceuticals from 2005-2008. Prior to his tenure with Amylin, Dr. Kendall was Chief of Clinical Services and a Director at the International Diabetes Center and held the position of Consultant in Endocrinology for the Park Nicollet Clinic in Minneapolis.
An active diabetes researcher, educator and clinician since 1993, Dr. Kendall has published more than 150 original articles, chapters, professional reviews and published abstracts. He remains active in medical education and research – with clinical and research interests focused on the management of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular complications of diabetes and studies of clinical diabetes care delivery.
Dr. Kendall is an active member of the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD). He currently serves on the ADA’s Professional Programs Oversight Committee. He has previously served on a number of professional committees including the ADA Professional Practice Committee, Scientific Sessions Planning Committee and as an ad hoc member of the ADA Research review committee. In 2005, Dr. Kendall was Chair of the ADA Council on Clinical Endocrinology and Health Care Delivery and Public Health. |
