Biography: David Badesch, MD
Dr. Badesch is a Professor of Medicine, in the Divisions of Pulmonary Sciences & Critical Care Medicine, and Cardiology, and Clinical Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Center, at the University of Colorado at Denver (UCD). He has served on the Steering Committees (national and international) of many of the major clinical trials conducted in the field of pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Badesch has authored or co-authored a number of papers describing the results of clinical trials in the field, in such journals as the Annals of Internal Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, CHEST, etc. He is a Past-Chair of the Scientific Leadership Council of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA), as well as a Past-Chair of the Pulmonary Circulation Assembly of the American Thoracic Society (ATS). He has served on the PHA and ATS Board(s) of Directors, as well as on the ATS Planning and Education Committees. Dr. Badesch helped to lead the writing group developing the Medical Therapy Guidelines published by the ACCP's Consensus Panel in 2004 and the Update to the Medical Therapy Guidelines published in 2007. Dr. Badesch has served as a Research Subject Advocate (RSA) for the Adult GCRC at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, helping to ensure the safety of research participants. He received the Outstanding Physician Award from the PHA in 2002, and has been listed among the Best Doctors in America 2001-2010. Dr. Badesch has also been an active member of his community, leading an effort to make all public schools in the State of Colorado tobacco-free. In recognition of his service, he has received the CHEST Foundation’s Community Service Award (one of the first two recipients, in 1998).
