| Biography: Julio Rosenstock, MD |
Dr. Julio Rosenstock received his medical degree from the University of Costa Rica School of Medicine. He completed fellowships in endocrinology and diabetes at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School at Hammersmith Hospital in London and at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is board certified in internal medicine and in endocrinology and metabolism. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Rosenstock is the director of the Dallas Diabetes and Endocrine Center, an endocrine practice and clinical research facility. He is also a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He is a member of numerous professional societies and the former president of the Greater Dallas Chapter of the American Diabetes Association and the Texas Diabetes and Endocrine Association.
He is actively involved in diabetes education and is an advisory board member of CADRE (Council for the Advancement of Diabetes Research and Education-www.cadre-diabetes.org). He serves as the representative of The Endocrine Society to NDEP (National Diabetes Education Program sponsored by NIH and CDC).
His clinical and research activities have focused on intensive diabetes management strategies exploring novel therapies and agents to improve glycemic control and to prevent and retard diabetes complications. Dr Rosenstock’s main interest has been early insulin intervention with combination strategies to reach glycemic targets in type 2 diabetes. Over the last 20 years he has participated in hundreds of clinical trials for the development of new oral agents and insulin preparations. He is recognized as a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) in the field of Diabetes and has extensively published on exploring novel therapies to improve glycemic control.
He has more than 200 publications, including peer-reviewed papers and numerous abstracts, and has also contributed to eleven clinics and book chapters on various topics in the field of Diabetes. He is currently an editorial board member of Practical Diabetology and Cardiovascular Diabetology, and is an active reviewer for several journals. He has chaired or been a featured speaker at multiple lectures and presentations in Diabetes both nationally and internationally |
