| Biography: Paul Forfia, MD |
Dr. Paul R. Forfia is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, a member of the Heart Failure and Transplant Section within the Cardiovascular Division and Medical Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program. Dr. Forfia received a Master of Science degree in physiology and a medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed a residency in internal medicine, heart failure/transplant training, and a fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Forfia’s research interests include noninvasive assessment of right ventricular function, hemodynamics, and pulmonary vascular function as well as novel treatment strategies for pulmonary hypertension. In 2007 he received the McCabe Research Award for Young Investigators from the University of Pennsylvania for his work in this area, in addition to several awards for teaching excellence. Dr. Forfia has co-authored more than 30 manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts, and serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Physiology, the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Chest, Circulation, European Heart Journal, European Respiratory Journal, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. In addition, he has presented numerous grand rounds and lectured at national and international meetings. |
