Biography: Puja Mehta, MD

Puja Mehta, MDPuja Mehta, MD is a Cardiologist at the Women’s Heart Center in the Division of Cardiology in the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute. The Women’s Heart Center offers cardiovascular services that meet the unique heart health needs of women. Dr. Mehta’s clinical interests include preventive cardiology, heart disease in women, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and behavioral approaches such as exercise, nutrition, stress reduction, and meditation for heart disease.

Dr. Mehta is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and board-eligible in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. She is a member of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and American College of Physicians.

Dr. Mehta attended undergraduate at Georgia Institute of Technology, where she graduated Magna cum Laude in Applied Biology. She completed her medical degree from Medical College of Georgia graduating Cum Laude. At Emory University, she completed both her internal medicine residency, and 4 year cardiovascular fellowship. Dr. Mehta completed an additional year of advanced training in women and heart disease as the Women’s Heart Disease fellow at Cedars-Sinai’s Women’s Heart Center.

In addition to Dr. Mehta’s academic success, she has received numerous awards including the prestigious New Jersey Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award. She has published her research in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national Cardiology meetings. Dr. Mehta’s research interests include the role of stress in heart disease, exploring the brain-heart connection, and new approaches to treating chest pain in women. Dr. Mehta is co-investigator on many studies at Cedars-Sinai, including those focusing on heart disease affecting small arteries in women.
