| Biography: Harold Bays, MD, FACP, FACE, FNLA |
Harold Bays MD, FACP, FACE, FNLA is Medical Director and President of Louisville Metabolic and Atherosclerosis Research Center (L-MARC) and Board Certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Bays has served as a Principal Investigator for over 400 clinical trials, has written, or been a contributing author to ~ 200 scientific manuscripts and book chapters, and been an author of ~ 100 scientific abstracts. He has been a published author in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Archives of Internal Medicine, Obesity/Obesity Research, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Cell Metabolism, Diabetes Care, Journal of American College of Cardiology, Circulation, Atherosclerosis, Metabolism, The American Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Lipidology, among many other journals. Dr. Bays has served as an expert manuscript reviewer for over 60 scientific medical journals including: Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), The Lancet, Archives of Internal Medicine, Obesity Research/Obesity, International Journal of Obesity, Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), Diabetes, Diabetes Care, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (JCEM), The American Journal of Medicine (AJM), American Journal of Cardiology (AJC), etc. and has served as an international advisor and consultant to pharmaceutical companies in drug development. Dr. Bays is a member of the Board of Directors of the SouthEastern Lipid Association, Fellow of the National Lipid Association (NLA), Fellow of The Obesity Society/NAASO, Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), a past member of the Board of Directors of AACE, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a member of the Endocrine Society. He is also a member of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) - and was a “Recognized” provider in the ADA’s National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes Physician Recognition Program from 1998 - 2010. |
