Dr. Alanna A. Morris is associate professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine and the Emory Cardiovascular Clinical Research Institute. She leads the Heart Failure Research and the Clinical Investigator tracks of the Cardiology Fellowship program at Emory. Her clinical time is spent as faculty in Emory’s Center for Heart Failure Therapy and Transplantation.
Dr. Morris holds K23 funding from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, and career development award funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Harold Amos Faculty Development Program. She commits her research to understanding race and gender disparities in heart failure risk and progression, including the role of biologic determinants such as biomarkers of oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction. She also seeks to define race- and gender- based differences in biochemical and vascular markers, and whether they contribute significantly to observed differences in morbidity and mortality after heart transplantation and device implantation.
