Dr. East is a native Of Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated magna cum laude with her BA from Harvard University and received her MD at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Medical School where she also completed residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology. She is currently board certified in internal medicine as well as endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. She is also board certified by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. Formerly an associate professor and director of the lipid clinic and subsequently the cardiometabolic clinic at the University of Mississippi Medical Clinic, she is now in private practice with Premier Medical Group, a multi supspecialty group affiliated with Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. She has authored/coauthored publications in multiple peer reviewed journals including the American Journal of Medical Sciences, American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of Clinical Hypertension, Diabetes Care and the Annals of Pharmocotherapy. She has served on numerous committees including the Mississippi Governor's Task Force on Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke Prevention, the Mississippi Stroke Education Consortium and the Mississippi Tobacco Advisory Council.
