Emily Ko, MD, MSCR is an Assistant Professor at University of Pennsylvania Health Systems, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology. As a clinician-researcher, she provides surgical and chemotherapy treatments for women with gynecologic cancers and precancerous conditions. Additionally, Dr. Ko is a researcher with a focus on health-services research, population science-based studies and clinical trials. Her primary areas of interest include endometrial cancer and cervical cancer. Dr. Ko has received research funding from the American Society of Clinical Oncologists Conquer Cancer Foundation, the Gynecologic Oncology Group and the American Cancer Society. She currently serves as the Society of Gynecologic Oncology Co-Chair for the Health Policy and Socioeconomic Committee, and previously served as the Chair of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology Physicians Payment Reform Taskforce. At UPenn, Dr. Ko is faculty member of the Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation; Senior Scholar of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics; full member of the Abramson Cancer Center, Clinical Cancer Control Division; and director of the Gynecologic Oncology Population Science Research Group. Together, her clinical practice, research efforts, and service commitments converge, with a focus on evaluations of practice patterns, quality improvement, and strategies to adapt practices to improve the care and outcomes of women with gynecologic cancers.
