Dr. Barnes is a cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist at the University of Michigan. His clinical and research interest center on the care of patients with thromboembolic disease and/or the use of anticoagulant medications. He is the medical director for the University of Michigan Pulmonary Embolism Response Team and Director of the Vascular Medicine Fellowship Program. He also serves as co-director of the Michigan Anticoagulation Quality Improvement Initiative and the Michigan Program on Value Enhancement. He serves in numerous national and international leadership roles related to thrombosis, anticoagulation, and vascular medicine. His research is funded by the NIH, AHRQ, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
