About

Dr. Houston is director of the Hypertension Institute and Vascular Biology, the Division of Human Nutrition, and of Clinical Research at the Hypertension Institute in Nashville, Tennessee. He is also a clinical instructor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Care Sciences at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Science. Dr. Houston has presented over 10,000 lectures, nationally and internationally and published over 250 medical articles, scientific abstracts in peer reviewed medical journals, books and book chapters. He is an author, teacher, clinician and researcher.

Education and Training

Dr. Houston graduated with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) and the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honorary society distinction from Vanderbilt Medical School, and completed his medical internship and residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He returned to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was chief resident in medicine and served on the faculty from 1978-1990.

Dr. Houston has four board certifications by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Society of Hypertension, the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, and the American Board of Cardiology's Certification in Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease. He holds two Master of Science degrees in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, and another in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine from the University of South Florida School of Medicine.
