About

Melissa Magwire, RN, MSN, is a Master’s prepared Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Education and Care Specialist with more than 30 years of experience.  She provides direct patient care to patients living with diabetes, focusing on cardiovascular risk reduction. As Program Director for the Cardiometabolic Center Alliance, she has clinical and research interests in improving outcomes for patients with diabetes, and in best-practices for insulin delivery. She was a contributing author on the 2018 and 2020 American College of Cardiology (ACC) expert consensus statements regarding decision considerations for novel cardiovascular risk reduction therapies in patients with type 2 diabetes and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Melissa is a regular presenter the American College of Cardiology Scientific Meeting, American Association of Diabetes Scientific Symposium, American Association of Diabetes Educators National Meeting, and many more conferences that educate providers on updated guidelines and latest breakthroughs in diabetes care.She has authored over 15  peer-reviewed publications, served on the Editorial Board of Clinical Diabetes, on the 2022 Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists Clinical Practice Committee, as well as on several national advisory boards.
