Dr. Michelle Look practices obesity medicine in her role as a family practice-sports medicine physician for the San Diego Sports Medicine and Family Health Center. Over the years, she has served as principal investigator of numerous clinical trials assessing pharmacotherapies for obesity as well as authoring several published articles on obesity medicine in primary care.
Her affiliations span a number of interests and organizations, to include: diplomate, American Board of Obesity Medicine; board member, American Heart Association, San Diego Chapter; former national medical director, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk; and current team physician for the USA Men’s and Women’s Rugby Sevens and Fifteens teams. This summer she will serve as the Tournament Medical Director for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Rugby Games. In 2008 and 2010, she dedicated her time and talent as the team physician for the United States Summer Olympics, Beijing, China, and Winter Olympics, Vancouver, Canada, respectively.
Dr. Look’s excellence in medical practice, as well as her service to her local and global community, was recognized by San Diego Magazine and the San Diego County Medical Society when she was lauded as one of the city’s “Top Doctors” in family and sports medicine in 2006, and 2008-2020.
Dr. Look received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and is board certified in family medicine, sports medicine, and obesity medicine. She joined San Diego Sports Medicine in 2001 after completing the San Diego Sports Medicine and Family Health Center’s Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program and a family practice residency at Sharp HealthCare in San Diego.
