Johannes Scholl, Dr. med., studied medicine at Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, as a scholar of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes (National German Scholarship Foundation). He graduated magna cum laude with his doctoral thesis in history of medicine about Albert Schweitzer’s “Ethics of the respect for life and his jungle hospital in Lambarene ”, which was published as a book by Beltz Athenaeum.

He specialized in internal medicine, sports medicine, nutritional medicine and preventive medicine. In 2001 he started his first private practice Prevention First in Ruedesheim am Rhein/Germany, which is working in the field of occupational health, and has expanded to a nationwide chain of seven clinics specialized in preventive medicine and lifestyle education.

His research interests, which built upon the Prevention First Registry from more than 25,000 comprehensive health checkups with long-term follow-up, concentrate on the influence of lifestyle interventions on the prevention of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

He is the current president of the Deutsche Akademie für Präventivmedizin (German Academy for Preventive Medicine), the leading institution in postgraduate education in preventive medicine in Germany, and has organised the 12th annual postgraduate course in preventive medicine in 2017.
