This virtual patient case will address the management and treatment of patients with HF and hyponatremia. The patient case will address the underlying genetic causes for racial disparities in HF and how biomarkers can assist clinicians in predicting survival rates. Current guidelines regarding the appropriate use of pharmacotherapy and the different therapeutic classes of agents used to treat HF, including recently approved therapies will be reviewed to aid clinicians in differentiating and selecting among the various treatment options for patients, including difficult-to-treat patients such as African Americans.
