Stavra Xanthakos, MD, MS is a Professor of Pediatrics within the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio. She serves as the Director of the Steatohepatitis Center and the Medical Director of the Surgical Weight Loss Program for Teens at Cincinnati Children’s. Her clinical practice and research program have focused on determining the prevalence, risk factors and outcome of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in children and adolescents and identifying more effective prevention and treatment options, including lifestyle interventions, novel pharmacotherapy and bariatric surgery. She is also a co-investigator in NIH-funded multicenter networks investigating fatty liver disease in children and outcomes of bariatric surgery in adolescents.
