Dr. Wendy S. Lane is a clinical endocrinologist and Director of Clinical Research at the Mountain Diabetes and Endocrine Center in Asheville, NC. A graduate of Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, NH, Dr. Lane also holds undergraduate degrees in biology and English literature from Yale University, New Haven, CT. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Newton, MA, followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

Dr. Lane has been principal investigator or subinvestigator for multiple clinical trials for new and investigational oral and injectable medications and insulins for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as glucose sensor and insulin pump trials. She has also been author and investigator for several investigator-initiated trials of U-500 insulin via insulin pump and trials involving combinations of GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy with insulin. Dr. Lane has conducted hyperinsulinemic euglycemic and hypoglycemic clamp studies during her endocrinology fellowship.

An author or co-author of 18 original articles in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Lane has presented lectures on all aspects of insulin therapy and diabetes management, especially high-dose insulin therapy and insulin pump therapy at regional, national and international meetings. She is a contributing author to the 2014 AACE Guidelines on Insulin Pump Therapy. She has also served as medical advisor and physician at Camp Coqui, a summer camp for children with diabetes in Flat Rock, NC.
