Dr. Brent M. Egan is an internist and professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Greenville. He is the vice president of the American Medical Association’s Cardiovascular Health in the Improving Health Outcomes group.

His professional interests center on hypertension, metabolic syndrome, and vascular disease, which led to some 370 original papers and reviews. He is the former president of the South Carolina Upstate chapter of the American Heart Association. He also served on the board of directors and was president of the International Society of Hypertension in Blacks.
