About

Dr. Erin A. Bohula May is a cardiovascular medicine and critical care specialist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an instructor in medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is also a staff investigator for the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) Study Group at BWH which studies patients across the spectrum of acute coronary conditions. Dr. Bohula May’s clinical interests include cardiovascular critical care shock, acute coronary syndrome, stroke and metabolic cardiovascular risk factors such as dyslipidemia, diabetes and obesity. The author of 13 peer-reviewed publications, her research focuses on critical care cardiology, ischemic heart disease, and a randomized control trial of a weight loss agent to assess long-term cardiovascular safety and efficacy in obese or overweight patients at high risk for cardiovascular events.  In addition to her scientific and trial responsibilities, Dr. Bohula is an active member of the clinical staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and attends in the cardiology critical care unit.

Education and Training

Dr. Bohula earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology from Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship and her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Following training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, she obtained triple-board certification in internal medicine, cardiology, and critical care medicine.
