About

Janet M. de Jesus, M.S., R.D., is a nutritionist in the Center for Translation Research and Implementation Science (CTRIS) at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In her role at CTRIS, she participates in systematic evidence reviews and NHLBI participation in the collaborative development of clinical practice guidelines development. In addition she plays a role in implementation research for translation of evidence to enhance dissemination and implementation of knowledge for the prevention and management of heart, lung, and blood diseases and blood disorders. She participates in a number of federal and non-federal nutrition science committees.

She was staff lead for Lifestyle Interventions to Reduce Cardiovascular Risk: Systematic Evidence Review from the Lifestyle Work Group and the program lead tasked with completing the NHLBI Integrated Pediatric Guideline for Cardiovascular Health and Risk Reduction.

Ms. de Jesus’s previous role at NHLBI involved included work in community program development and developing education materials for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Ms. de Jesus supported education efforts in the We Can!™(Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition) program for the prevention of overweight and obesity in children and youth. She also supported the development of education materials for the National High Blood Pressure Education Program and the “Keep the Beat” product line of cookbooks and materials. Additionally she provided nutritional guidance for the development of heart health materials for health disparity outreach to multicultural communities.

She received a Master’s Degree in nutrition from Florida State University, Tallahassee.
