About

Dr. Piercy is a Physical Activity and Nutrition Advisor in the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) in the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and serves as a dietitian officer in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Dr. Piercy advises agency and departmental officials on current physical activity and nutrition science to inform policies and programs related to health promotion and disease prevention. Dr. Piercy manages the physical activity portfolio within ODPHP and most recently wrote the National Youth Sports Strategy in response to a Presidential Executive Order. She led the development of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, released in November 2018, and coordinated efforts across HHS during the five-year project. She serves as a subject matter expert for the Move Your Way communications campaign. Move Your Way includes over 50 resources in English and Spanish which can be used to support and encourage more Americans to get the physical activity they need to stay healthy. Dr. Piercy also serves as a member of the Federal physical activity workgroup to support Healthy People 2020 and 2030.
