Dr. Ponikowski is professor of cardiology and head of the Department of Heart Diseases at Wroclaw Medical University. He is also head of the Center for Heart Diseases at University Hospital, where he maintains his clinical practice. Dr. Ponikowski conducts research on the pathophysiology and management of acute and chronic heart failure, coronary heart disease and heart arrhythmia. His findings have led to the development of new guidelines by the European Society of Cardiology and informed many clinical trial endpoints.
