Jonathan D. Rich, MD is a renowned cardiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He serves as Medical Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program and as the Program Director for the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship within Northwestern Medicine’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. He specializes in the care of patients with heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, ventricular assist devices or LVADs, and those in need of a heart transplantation.

Dr. Rich’s education began at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he graduated with University Honors/Summa Cum Laude. He attended medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Rich then completed his internal medicine residency at Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital where he received the Harvard Medical School Resident Teaching Award. Finally, he completed both his cardiovascular and advanced heart failure/transplant fellowships at the University of Chicago, where he served as the Chief Cardiology Fellow, as well.

Dr. Rich has published numerous research abstracts, manuscripts, reviews, and book chapters. He is considered a gifted speaker and is regularly invited to present his research at both national and international meetings. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Heart Failure Society of America, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Heart Failure Society of America, and Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute. He also serves as a peer reviewer and is on the editorial board for medical journals, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation: Heart Failure and the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.
