About

Dr. Surkin is triple-board certified in cardiology, sleep medicine, and nuclear cardiology and has more than 24 years of clinical experience. Dr. Surkin created a unique and effective practice model for patient care, emphasizing comprehensive wellness with a multifaceted approach to prevention, early detection, and aggressive management by incorporating sleep with cardiovascular and obesity medicine. In addition to advising physicians, dentists and corporations, Dr Surkin offers virtual care to patients across the US.
Dr. Surkin established the American Academy of Cardiovascular Sleep Medicine, a nonprofit academic organization dedicated to an interdisciplinary approach to education, supporting clinical and academic research and furthering public awareness of the strong association between cardiovascular disease and sleep disorders. He co-authored “Cardiovascular Disorders in Narcolepsy: Review of Associations and Determinants,” and “CPAP Adherence – Factors and Perspectives.” He is also an editor for Sleep Review Magazine and has been highlighted in the New York Times article “High-Tech Alternatives to High-Cost Care.”

Education and Training

Dr. Surkin completed his internal medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. He is president and founder of CardioSleep Diagnostics, founder of the American Academy of Cardiovascular Sleep Medicine and president of Empire Sleep Medicine in NYC.

Professional Highlights

He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the College of Chest Physicians, Fellow of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and recipient of numerous awards and recognitions.
